Police bodycam shows officer Sip is not surprised the moment of the explosion in Nashville.
Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville police released the bodycam footage of officer Michael Sipos, 1 of the officers who responded to 2nd Ave N Christmas Day in the minutes prior to the explosion.
Sipos had been issued a body camera just days earlier.
The bombing took place early on the holiday morning before the dense streets were active. The officers were responding to a report of shots fired and came upon the scene to find the RV blaring an ominous recorded message that a bomb would detonate in 15 minutes.
As one of the officers walked around a corner, the audio from the RV reportedly then switched to a recording of Petula Clark’s 1964 hit “Downtown” just before it exploded.
As seen in the video (at 3:53), Sip acts like he wasn’t surprised at all.
