VIDEOKINGS -- While lives have been taken and villages have been destroyed by the flooding in the Southern Part of Germany, the Netherlands and Northern Belgium, German Leader Angela Merkel - among Dutch PM Mark Rutte - saw an opportunity to address the EU's agenda on fighting Climate Change by saying it caused the flooding.

"The country must step up the fight against climate change and prepare better for the effects of global warming", Merkel said just before being interrupted by mayor Helmut Lussi.
"We have had floods in the years of 1790 and 1910. I don't think we had a climate problem back then so I don't have reasons to believe it's causing the flood now.
